Interview: Director Moritz Mohr on the creation of ‘Boy Kills World’

Boy Kills World will arrive into UK and Ireland cinemas from Friday 26th April 2024 and is one film you do not want to miss. The film, from first-time feature director Moritz Mohr, is not to be missed and is already a contender for THN’s movie of the year.

Bill Skarsgård stars as Boy, a deaf-mute with a vivid imagination, and driven by his inner voice, which he co-opted from his favourite childhood video game. He vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deafened, and voiceless. Boy trains with a mysterious shaman to become an instrument of death and is set loose on the eve of the annual culling of dissidents. Bedlam ensues as Boy commits bloody martial arts mayhem, inciting a wrath of carnage and bloodletting. As he tries to get his bearings in this delirious realm, Boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister.

If you like your action violent and bloody then Boy Kills World needs to be added to your watchlist immediately. Ahead of Boy Kills World’s release on 26th April, THN were fortunate enough to get time to speak with director Moritz Mohr. During our conversation, Moritz shared the long journey from idea to final product, a change of narrator after its TIFF debut, and how Bill Skarsgård stacks up as an action star. Moritz also shared why this film should be watched on the biggest screen possible, and the many directions that a sequel could go in.

Distributed by Signature Entertainment Boy Kills World will be available exclusively only in UK and Irish cinemas from April 26th 2024.
