One of the year’s most anticipated releases is the big-budget blockbuster sequel Twisters, which is whirling onto screens later this month. The film is led by Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell. The European premiere was held in London last night and following the movie event, which was attended by the film’s cast and creatives, as well as one Mr. Tom Cruise, the first Twister reactions went online – and the word seems to be very positive.
Friend of the site, journalist Lou Thomas, shared his views on Twitter / X saying: “Saw Twisters last week, didn’t wanna shout about it (OK the embargo was still in force). Enjoyed it, especially Glen Powell’s fun turn as a cowboy scientist.”
Elsewhere, fellow friend of the site HeyUGuys’ Scott J. Davis also liked the movie. On Twitter / X, Scott said: “Didn’t think I’d write this but #Twisters might just be my favourite film of the summer & one of faves of 2024. Thrilling and exciting in all the best ways – and tonnes of fun – as well as fab turns from Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glenn Powell, it’s gonna blow the theatrical roof off!”
Then there was the opinion of WFAA meteorologist Kyle Roberts who said the film is ‘very entertaining’: “It is Hollywood’s portrayal of storm chasing, so don’t go into it expecting anything more than that. It’s not a documentary. While there are callbacks to the original, it is not a remake or a sequel. The special effects are fantastic and it is an entertaining watch.”
The first Twisters reactions come as the film fast approaches a release date on 17th July.
In the film, Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.
As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.
