4K restoration of Luc Besson’s acclaimed ‘Nikita’ set for September

A 4K restoration of French filmmaker Luc Besson’s stunning Nikita is set to land on the high definition home formats this coming September, according to an official press release.

Written and directed by Besson (The Fifth Element), and produced by Gaumont, the film was a smash hit that spawned an American remake, a TV series, not to mention numerous imitations, and turned Parillaud (who won the César Award for Best Actress) into an iconic cult action heroine. STUDIOCANAL will team for the re-issue.

Rescued from death row by a top-secret agency, Nikita is slowly transformed from a cop-killing junkie into a cold-blooded bombshell with a licence to kill. But when she begins the deadliest mission of her career, only to fall for a man who knows nothing of her true identity, Nikita discovers that in the dark and ruthless world of espionage, the greatest casualty of all… is true love.

The release has been set for 23rd September with the film getting a strictly limited edition 3-disc SteelBook debut.
