Bella Thorne’s short film and latest feature ‘Saint Clare’ to screen at FrightFest

After finding fame in Disney show Shake it Up alongside Zendaya, Bella Thorne has gone on to have a prolific career within the horror genre. From starring in the Scream television series, The Babysitter and Keep Watching the star is clearly drawn to darker projects and we can’t wait to see her latest scary movie, Saint Clare, which screens at Pigeon Shrine FrightFest on Sunday 25th August.

Described as ‘a spiritually charged smalltown tale in which American Psycho meets Joan of Arc,’ Saint Clare certainly sounds like one of the films to not miss at this years 25th FrightFest. Based on a novel by Don Roff, Saint Clare is expertly helmed by award-winning Italian director Mitzi Peirone (Braid) who co-wrote the screenplay with Guinevere Turner (American Psycho). The stellar cast also includes Ryan Philippe (Crash, Cruel Intentions), Rebecca DeMornay (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Risky Business), Frank Whaley (Broken Arrow, Pulp Fiction) and Bart Johnson (High School Musical). The film features an original soundtrack by Zola Jesus.

In a small town, a solitary young woman is haunted by voices that lead her to assassinate people with bad intentions who think they can get away with it. But her last kill changes everything and sucks her headlong down a rabbit hole riddled with corruption, trafficking and twisted visions from the beyond. Can Saint Clare save herself from unimaginable terror as her pursuit for retribution takes a dangerous turn, carrying her deep into an unknown hell?

In addition to hosting Saint Clare, FrightFest will also debut to UK audiences Thorne’s short film Unsettled, which marks her first steps into directing. This double-bill makes the event a must attend for the fans of Thorne, and who knows, maybe with two projects in the festival, she might even make an appearance.

If you can’t make it to FrightFest, don’t despair, as Saint Clare will arrive onto digital later this year via 101 Films.

Catch Saint Clare at FrightFest on Sunday 25th August. Individual tickets for the event go on sale on Saturday 20th July at noon. For more details head here.
