Black Bear has launched the teaser trailer for director Osgood Perkins’ next film, The Monkey, starring Theo James, Tatiana Maslany and Elijah Wood. The film will release in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on February 21, 2025.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of the huge success of Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs, also released by Black Bear. Longlegs, starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage, hit cinemas in July of this year and has taken audiences and critics by storm, becoming the UK’s highest-grossing independent horror of the last decade.
The Monkey is based on the 1985 short story by Stephen King and was included in the ‘Skeleton Crew’ book. The story is as follows:
When twin brothers Bill and Hal find their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths start. The siblings decide to throw the toy away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years.
Sounds like a really dark Toy Story. Looking forward to it.
Neon will debut the film stateside while Black Bear take the UK.
