Georgia Conlan, Dean Kilbey & Martin Hardwick discuss ‘Charlotte’, which is now available on Prime Video [FrightFest 2024]

Georgia Conlan’s Charlotte was one of THN’s favourite films of this year’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest. Our review told of the film’s uncomfortable darkness and decision to delve into some extreme situations. We also highlighted the exceptional performances from Dean Kilbey and Georgia Conlan who also star in the film, in addition to both directing and writing it. The FrightFest audience seemed to agree with us as, throughout the screening, the air in the room was tight with tension and you could have heard a pin drop. The immediate reaction afterwards was shock and stunned silence with anyone not present at the screening wishing that they had been.

Those disappointed to miss out on a ticket for Charlotte at FrightFest can worry no more as the film has just landed on Prime. It’s a fantastic win for the platform as this is a film that is certain to cause waves and get people talking. For your first full viewing of Charlotte, it is best to go in knowing next to nothing beyond that the plot revolves around a young girl and older man. Charlotte (Conlan) arrives on the doorstep of Roy (Kilbey) late one night. She has run away from an abusive home and Roy kindly offers her shelter for the night. However, one night becomes more, and as the pair connect, things get dangerous.

We at THN have been strongly supporting Charlotte in the lead up to the festival and are delighted that this film now has the chance to be seen by a much wider audience. Ahead of the Prime release, THN attended FrightFest and spoke to Georgia Conlan, Dean Kilbey, and writer Martin Hardwick about the project. Here’s what they had to say in the almost immediate aftermath of the FrightFest screening as they arrived on the festival’s media wall.

Charlotte is available to watch now on Prime Video.
