Mike Capes and company discuss ‘The Invisible Raptor’

In 2018, FrightFest Glasgow fell victim to the Beast from the East, a snowstorm that saw many transport links cancelled. With some attendees unable to make the perilous journey, the festival directors brought two of the titles screened there – Tigers are Not Afraid and Ghost Stories – down to London for the summer extravaganza. This was received well, and began a tradition of an August repeat of a FrightFest Glasgow offering. The Glasgow film choice this year was Mike Hermosa’s The Invisible Raptor. The film played exceptionally well in Glasgow and was given a prime spot of opening night on the main screen for its London debut where it won over the crowd with its humorous creature feature story.

In The Invisible Raptor, the Tyler Corporation has finally figured out how to genetically engineer a prehistoric raptor, but they didn’t stop there… They also made it invisible. Unfortunately for them, he’s a really smart invisible raptor. After easily breaking out of its enclosure, it’s now up to washed-up amusement park palaeontologist, Dr Grant Walker (Mike Capes), and hapless loner Security Guard Denny Danielson (David Shackelford) to stop the predator before it wreaks havoc on the entire community of Spielburgh County. With the help of local celebrity chicken farmer, Henrietta McCluckskey (Sandy Martin), and Grant’s old flame, Amber (Caitlyn McHugh), they uncover the truth behind the mysterious apex predator.

Overwhelmed by the positive response at FrightFest Glasgow, the team of The Invisible Raptor couldn’t resist making an appearance at the London event. Armed with some of the most inventive promotional merch in FrightFest history (an invisible raptor action figure), writer and lead actor Mike Capes attended the festival accompanied by co-stars David Shackelford and Caitlyn McHugh. Sadly, director Mike Hermosa couldn’t make the event, but his cast championed The Invisible Raptor for him, taking the time to walk the media wall and speak with THN about this very fun creature feature.

The Invisible Raptor screened at Pigeon Shrine FrightFest.
