With Paddington 3, official title Paddington In Peru, not due out in the UK until later in the year, news reaches us today that a Paddington 4 movie is already in the works at StudioCanal.
The news was revealed at London’s Brand Licensing Europe convention this week. What’s more, in addition to the news of a Paddington 4 movie, there is also going to be a new Paddington TV series, too. “We are also working on a new TV series and a new movie to come in 2027, ’28,”said Françoise Guyonnet, CEO of StudioCanal, kids & family.
This will all be tied to the 70th anniversary of the beloved brand about a bear who is found in London’s Paddington train station and adopted by a British family. The first two Paddington movies have been applauded by critics and fans alike, the first sequel particularly heralded as one of the best family films of all time.
The third film, Paddington In Peru, will arrive in UK cinemas on 8th November 2024 followed by theatrical releases worldwide including the US release via Sony on 17th January 2025.
Directed by award-winning Dougal Wilson, Paddington In Peru brings Paddington’s story to Peru as he returns to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. ?With the Brown Family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an?unexpected journey?through the Amazon rainforest and ?up to the mountain peaks of Peru.?
The cast includes Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Imelda Staunton as the voice of Aunt Lucy, Carla Tous, Olivia Colman,Antonio Banderas and, of course, Ben Whishaw as the voice of Paddington.
Whishaw also voices the bear in an animated TV Series which can be currently viewed on Netflix.
The film is based on the best-selling and internationally adored series of children’s stories by British author Michael Bond with a story by Paul King, Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton and a screenplay by Mark Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont.
