James Wan executive producing the new ‘Robocop’ TV series

The project is reportedly in the early stages of development.

The Robocop TV series is a go at Prime Video and now it looks like it has some might at the helm in the brilliant James Wan who has been confirmed to executive produce.

Robocop TV series

I hate the idea of any remake of Robocop but with Wan involved, this is great news. There’s also Peter Ocko, another great talent with the likes of Pushing Daisies, Lodge 49, Black Sails and more on his CV. He joins as executive producer and also show runner. Deadline reports the news.

The word is that the premise of the new show will follow that of the 1987 Paul Verhoeven movie. The story revolves around a deceased police officer who is rebuilt into a robotic super cop.

The trade has more:

The series will follow the premise of the films, focusing on a giant tech conglomerate which collaborates with the local police department to introduce a technologically advanced enforcer to combat rising crime — a police officer who’s part man, part machine.

The Robocop TV series gives the storytellers more time to deal with the narrative.

No word on when this will start to see a release but this is early days so we’ll keep you posted.
