The Happy Gilmore 2 release date has apparently been revealed with the comedy sequel arriving sooner than we may have first thought.
The news of the Happy Gilmore release date comes from a website called OutKick and golfer John Daly who will reportedly appear in the film. In a video posted to X (see below), the American golfer says he has already filmed his part in the movie and adds news of a potential release. March or April next year is the word on the street, according to the outlet.
“I’ve already filmed,” the golfer told Mike Gunzelman at OutKick. “We’re getting it done. Coming out on Netflix, maybe in March, April of next year.”
The Happy Gilmore sequel is currently being shot in New Jersey, USA with Adam Sandler reprising his role from the 1990s. Filming commenced on the 9th September and also starring is Christopher McDonald as Gilmore’s rival Shooter McGavin and fellow returnee Julie Bowen. Benito Martínez Ocasio (AKA Bad Bunny) has also been confirmed to star.
Netflix’s own Tudum site released info as filming started. Original Happy Gilmore co-writer Tim Herlihy is returning to write Happy Gilmore 2, Happy Gilmore director Dennis Dugan will serve as executive producer, and Happy Gilmore producers Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds also produce. Murder Mystery director Kyle Newacheck will also reunite with Sandler to direct the sequel.
The first film’s plot is as follows:
Failed hockey player-turned-golf whiz Happy Gilmore is determined to win a PGA tournament so he can save his granny’s house with the prize money. Meanwhile, an attractive tour publicist tries to soften Happy’s image.
No official word has been mentioned in regards to the plot, but the same site added that it is currently unclear how the film will resurrect Gilmore’s golf career, but one thing’s for sure: In the real world, at least, Happy Gilmore is a legend. Even the world’s best golfers agree.
The official Happy Gilmore 2 release date is currently unknown and will remain so until we hear from Netflix themselves but we’ll obviously keep you posted.
