‘Gladiator II’ will get a special premiere screening at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival

The film releases in cinemas on 15th November.

The Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) has announced that it is hosting the Asian premiere of Gladiator II, the highly anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott’s 2000 Oscar-winning masterpiece. The Asian Premiere screening will be held on November 5th at one of TIFF’s main venues, with the stars and crew of Gladiator II on site: The film’s leading man Paul Mescal, making his first visit to Japan, along with Fred Hechinger, Connie Nielsen and Academy Award winner Denzel Washington, as well as producers Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher.

Paul Mescal plays Lucius in Gladiator II from Paramount Pictures.

The Centerpiece screening is the first special slot in TIFF’s long history, created exclusively for Gladiator II.

From legendary director Ridley Scott, Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honour to return the glory of Rome to its people.

Before the November 5th screening, a press conference with the cast and crew will be held in collaboration with Towa Pictures on November 4, and fans will be invited.

The film has been confirmed to be this year’s Royal Film Performance in London with members of the Royal Family attending. The event will take place on 13th November.

The movie will then be release in the UK on 15th November.
