Deadline is reporting that William H. Macy has joined the growing cast of Edgar Wright’s The Running Man over at Paramount Pictures.
Glen Powell is leading the cast of the redo of the Stephen King (writing as Richard Bachman) source material that was famously turned into a 1980s action movie vehicle for Arnold Schwarzenegger. Josh Brolin, Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brian, Daniel Ezra, Lee Pace, Jayme Lawson, Michael Cera and Emilia Jones are also on board the film which kicks off shooting soon.
The story is set in a dystopian future where the media is controlled by the government. Powell’s Ben Richards enters a deadly gameshow in the movie which sees himself hunted by professional killers over the course of 30 days. Wright wrote the screenplay for the new version with Michael Bacall and also produces with Nira Park and Simon Kinberg. The film has a release date set for just over a year’s time on November 21st 2025.
