Directed by Jake Kasdan, who has previously teamed with Johnson on the blockbuster Jumanji movies, the film centres on Santa Claus (Simmons) – Code Name: RED ONE – who is kidnapped. As a result, the North Pole’s Head of Security (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Chris Evans) in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.

Kasdan directs from a screenplay by Chris Morgan (the “Fast & Furious” franchise), story by Hiram Garcia (the “Jumanji” and “Fast & Furious” franchises). The film is produced by Garcia, Johnson, Dany Garcia, Morgan, Kasdan and Melvin Mar. The executive producers are Barry Waldman and Ainsley Davies.

Red One is the first major holiday movie to enter cinemas this year. This might not be one for the younger audience members, thought, the film receiving a 12A certificate in the UK – so nobody under the age of 12 will be admitted without an adult. This is largely due to moderate violence in the feature, the classification board saying on their website:

People are punched, headbutted, thrown against hard surfaces, or smashed through furniture, windows and doors during crunchy fight scenes. Combatants also use fantastical weapons that deliver knock-out blasts of glowing energy or encase people in ice.

The Red One press conference comes courtesy of Warner Bros. who put on the event in Berlin, Germany earlier this week. Red One is now playing in cinemas across the UK and Ireland with U.S. audiences set to get a release from 15th November. It is currently being projected for a $25-$30 million global debut.
