There is a new Predator movie on the way and it is coming to the screen from Prey filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg. Coming to screens in 2025, the new Predator movie is titled Predator: Badlands and we have some more information about the project courtesy of Trachtenberg and Empire magazine who have a massive preview of next year’s big movies in their latest issue.
Some major details about the new Predator movie have swung in an it seems that the new film will be a little different the ones that have proceeded it with the iconic villain actually the protagonist this time around.
Chatting to the mag, Trachtenberg said: “The creature is front and centre, leading the charge. He’s still badass, but there’s something there that touches you emotionally, too. Creating a character you connect with, but are also super-intimidated by, has been challenging. But exciting.“
[The idea was to] find another essential piece of cinema that does what Prey did spiritually – pushing the franchise’s boundaries, letting us root for a hero we rarely get to root for – but in a different way. And that transformed into this big idea of rooting for the Predator”
Prey, which was released directly to streaming services a couple of years back, was a huge success and such a massive critical success following some absolute turkeys in the beloved series. The new Predator movie looks like it might be continuing on that axis with some really positive buzz already.
Elle Fanning is among the cast and is reportedly playing multiple characters. Predatoir: Badlands is a little while off though, with almost a year to wait. It will land in cinemas on 7th November, 2025.
