IFC Films have the distribution rights to this one in the U.S. with the film getting a release in February. The film is Norway’s entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards. The film is about a 6-year-old boy who is accused of crossing boundaries against his best friend at elementary school.

When defamed actress Elisabeth (Renate Reinsve) is abruptly called into a parent-teacher meeting after hours, she is presented with scathing allegations that trigger a tangled web of accusations between parents and faculty. As Elisabeth struggles to uncover the truth amid the empty school rooms and dark corridors, a chaotic fight for redemption arises where desire, madness and obsession prevail.

Reviews from Cannes were pretty good for this one. It played in the Un Certain Regard strand of the festival where it played last May.

This looks pretty gritty and I’m looking forward to checking this one out as I missed it when I was down there in the South of France last year.

Ellen Dorrit Petersen, Thea Lambrechts Vaulen, Endre Hellestveit, Øystein Røger, and Vera Veljovic complete the main cast of the Norwegian drama which is written and directed by Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel.

The film will open in the U.S. in a limited capacity on 7th February and then expand a week later on the 14th.
