A new Bring Them Down trailer has graced the internet with the film set to land on MUBI in the UK and Ireland very soon.
Co-written and directed by Christopher Andrews, the film stars Barry Keoghan (Bird, The Banshees of Inisherin, Saltburn), and Christopher Abbott (Poor Things and TV’s Girls) alongside Colm Meaney (The Problem with People, Layer Cake), Nora-Jane Noone (The Magdalene Sisters, Brooklyn) Paul Ready (A Gentleman in Moscow, Motherland) and Susan Lynch (Enduring Love, Waking Ned Davine).
Shooting on this one took place quite a while ago, all of the way back in February 2023 with the film getting a premiere at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival where it pulled in decent enough reviews. Andrews has since been nominated as Best Debut Director at the BIFAs.
Abbot and Keoghan reportedly replaced Paul Mescal and Tom Burke in the production, as per Deadline. It is Andrews’ first film following striking short films Stalker (2019) and Fire (2015).
The synopsis is as follows:
Michael, the last son of a shepherding family, lives with his ailing father, Ray. Burdened by guilt over the death of his mother, Michael has isolated himself from the world. When a conflict with rival farmer Gary and his son Jack escalates, Michael is drawn into a devastating chain of events, forcing him to confront the horrors of his past and leaving both families permanently altered.
The film is getting a stateside release through MUBI as well, hitting everywhere on 7th February.
