Ryan Gosling is being tapped to head for the Star Wars universe for a new film from Deadpool and Wolverine‘s Shawn Levy. The star, who was last seen in Barbie and the brilliant re-iteration of The Fall Guy, is in negotiations for the lead role in the unnamed movie.
The news comes via the trades which state that Levy has been working on the movie with writer Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project) for over a year.
There’s not a lot of information as to where this would position in the world of Star Wars or indeed when we would be looking to see this roll into production, but Levy is producing alongside Kathleen Kennedy over at Lucasfilm. Early word, though, is that the film will be a stand-alone adventure and set away from the Skywalker Saga and anything else we’ve seen in feature or series form.
