Kevin Costner’s western sequel Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 is set to have its U.S. premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February, according to an official press release.
The SBIFF said that on February 7th the festival will be hosting the U.S. premiere of the film, which will be followed by a Q&A with director, writer, producer, and actor Kevin Costner. A FREE screening of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 will precede the premiere. There will also be a bonus inclusion of the behind-the-scenes documentary Beyond the Horizon on February 13th, which will be followed by a Q&A with Costner and Beyond the Horizon director Mark Gillard.
The premiere follows its world bow at Venice last year and a recent burst of interest in part one on Netflix. I saw that film at the Cannes world premiere in May. While long, and open ended due to it being a continuing story, I kinda liked it and I hope Costner gets a chance to make the third and fourth chapters, which he reportedly still intends to do.
A release in cinemas last year disappointed but the recent run on Netflix, there might be hope for the ongoing saga yet.
