Ben Affleck is set to direct and star in new film Animals over at Netflix. Gillian Anderson is also set for a lead role in the film, as per Deadline.
Affleck replaces best mate Matt Damon in the lead who is off to film Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey. Affleck, Damon and Dani Bernfeld are producing the film through their Artists Equity company.
Animals reportedly revolves around an L.A. mayoral candidate whose son has been kidnapped.
Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray wrote the screenplay for the movie.
Affleck and Damon will appear alongside one another in another Netflix project, Joe Carnahan’s RIP which will release on the streamer later in the year. They also appeared on screen together in Ridley Scott’s The Last Dual and the brilliant Air, which Affleck also directed.
Affleck will next be seen in The Accountant 2 which plays at SXSW next month,.
