78th Cannes Film Festival announces its official selection

The official selection of the 78th International Cannes Film Festival has been announced at a press conference in Paris. The announcement was made by Iris Knobloch, President of the Festival de Cannes, and Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate.

Juliette Binoche will head up the jury this year as its president. In the first week, Tom Cruise will return to the Croisette for the first time since the debut of Top Gun Maverick three years ago with Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The film will premiere on the Wednesday of the first week, the 14th May.

There are new films from the likes of Kelly Reichardt, Joachim Trier, Richard Linklater, Oliver Hermanus, the Dardenne brothers, Ari Aster, Julia Ducournau and Wes Anderson all playing in competition.
