‘Harry Potter’ TV cast confirmed

HBO has confirmed the cast of its planned TV version of the hugely popular Harry Potter books. HBO plans to adapt all J.K. Rowling’s novels for the small screen starting with ‘Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone’.

It has been confirmed (via Deadline) that John Lithgow will play the iconic role of Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer is Professor Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu stars as Professor Severus Snape, Nick Frost appears as Hogwarts gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon is Professor Quirinus Quirrel, and Paul Whitehouse will play Argus Filch. Whitehouse played the character of Sir Cadogan in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Frost shared the news on Instagram.

The three main roles of Harry, Ron and Hermione have yet to be cast, so reports Deadline.

Francesca Gardiner is writer and Showrunner and an executive producer alongside Mark Mylod. “We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life,” the two said in a joint statement.
