Check out this new trailer for Gus Van Sant’s next big film, a movie set in the 1970s titled Dead Man’s Wire, itself based on a true story. Bill Skarsgård and Colman Domingo lead the cast of the feature, which is out early next year.
Inspired by the documentary “Dead Man’s Line”, which was released in 2018. The story centres on Tony Kiritsis, who Skarsgård plays in the new film, who rigged a shotgun to a man’s neck so that it would go off if he tried to escape or if Kiritsis himself was shot. Domingo is playing the role of a local radio host named Fred Temple who is a key part of the story.
Based on a true story, the 1977 kidnapping of a prominent banker grips the nation and turns the abductor into an outlaw folk hero. As the media frenzy peaks, the standoff becomes a spectacle of desperation, defiance and blurred justice, which resonates even today.
Cary Elwes, Myha’la, Jordan Claire Robbins, Daniel R. Hill and Al Pacino are also among the cast of the filmwhich sees a release stateside in January after premieres earlier this year in Venice and TIFF.
