Quentin Tarantino’s stage play – full details revealed

The Quentin Tarantino play will open in London’s glittering West End in early 2027 and will be titled The Popinjay Cavalier.

An original Quentin Tarantino play has been announced for a premiere in London in 2027. Titled The Popinjay Cavalier, the comedy will open in the English capital’s glittering West End early next year.

Written and directed by Tarantino, the new show will reportedly be an “an old-fashioned British farce” with nods to the classic Noises Off. It will reportedly be set in 1830s Europe and is “a rambunctious comedy of deception and disguise inspired by the grand swashbuckling epics of stage and screen. A sweeping celebration of theatre and its heightened romance, told with Tarantino’s signature style and unmistakable wit.”

The Quentin Tarantino play comes from Sonia Friedman Productions and Sony Pictures Entertainment and has an official website already online. Users can sign up for more information on the main site which, so far, appears to just be a holding page for the new production.

The project was announced last year with Tarantino telling the Church of Tarantino podcast: “It is absolutely the next thing I’m going to do. We’ll start the ball rolling on it in January. It’s probably going to take up a year and a half to two years of my life, if it’s a success and I’ve got to do the tour version of it and all that,” he said to the outlet.

“I’m preparing for it to be a success. If it’s a flop, I’ll be done very quickly.”

A venue and indeed cast is yet to be announced.

Tarantino’s last film was Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood, which itself is getting a sequel/ spin-off with Brad Pitt and from director David Fincher on Netflix.
