Fan guys and gals, hold your hats and your hearts because it has been confirmed by author John Green that Shailene Woodley will be playing Hazel in the upcoming adaptation of the novel THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. The book has been welcomed with rave reviews, both critically and by fans, so the role has been extremely sought-after.
Speaking on Twitter, Green only had great things to say about Woodley:
Director Josh Boone also confirmed the news…and that the search for finding Hazel had taken a while.
“During our exhaustive search to find Hazel Grace Lancaster, I saw some stunning auditions by today’s finest young actresses. Over 250 girls read for the part, but it wasn’t until Shailene stepped in front of the camera that I truly saw Hazel for the first time. It was like lightning striking. I can’t wait for the rest of the world to see what I have.”
THE FAULT IN OUR STARS tells the story of a 16-year-old cancer patient named Hazel, who is forced to attend a support group by her parents. It is there where she meets and falls in love with 17-year-old Augustus Waters.
It is currently unclear as to who will playing the role of Augustus, but all we know is that there will be much debate indeed!
