MGM Offers Update On Bond 24

Daniel Craig - New James Bond movie Casino Royale

It’s going to be a difficult task for any director to follow Sam Mendes’ epic 007 adventure, SKYFALL. With the Oscar-winner recently confirming he’ll not return for the next James Bond actioner, all eyes are on MGM and who’ll take on the project, which will be 24th instalment, and the fourth to feature Daniel Craig in the iconic role.

MGM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Barber has given an indication of just when we can expect to see the super spy return:

We are very excited about the franchise, we look forward to announcing a director soon. We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director. We are hoping within the next 3 years it will be released.

SKYFALL became the highest-grossing 007 effort in history with an impressive $1.108 billion at the worldwide box office. It’s also cemented as the biggest film in the UK.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
