New Images From Upcoming Vampire Flick ‘Byzantium’

Vampires have been in vogue for many, many years but they probably reached an all time high in terms of popularity around the release of the TWILIGHT saga (although not in terms of quality). However vampires were also kind of cool in the mid-nineties and one of the people who helped carry the vampire banner back then was Irish director, Neil Jordan. His film INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE was one of several films that helped push Brad Pitt into the spotlight and also starred Tom Cruise, Christian Slater & Antonio Banderas as well as a young Kirsten Dunst. The film itself is really good, but Jordan went back to make smaller films after that and with an estimated budget of just about £8 million, BYZANTIUM fits that bill. It goes back to the vampire well though with the story going as follows:

Two mysterious women seek refuge in a run-down coastal resort. Clara meets lonely Noel, who provides shelter in his deserted guesthouse, Byzantium. Schoolgirl Eleanor befriends Frank and tells him their lethal secret. They were born 200 years ago and survive on human blood. As knowledge of their secret spreads, their past catches up on them with deathly consequence.

Now we have a whole range of pictures from the film and it looks very stylish. The cast is good so it might be worth seeking this one out.

BYZANTIUM is directed by Neil Jordan. It stars Gemma Arterton, Saoirse Ronan, Sam Riley, Tom Hollander, Jonny Lee Miller, Caleb Landry Jones, & Thure Lindhardt. It will hit UK cinemas on 3rd May 2013 and in the US on 28th June 2013.
