Yesterday we got to meet Japan’s entry into the giant-ass robot competition, in the form of Coyote Tango, and now it’s the turn of the Russians with Cherno Alpha. Cherno Alpha is one of the Jaegers we will see battling monsters called Kaiju, in PAN’S LABYRINTH director Guillermo Del Toro’s latest offering, PACIFIC RIM. The film will be released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX versions, but I’ll be skipping on the 3D since it was allegedly studio imposed after Del Toro expressed concerns with using 3D with such gigantic creations on screen.
PACIFIC RIM is bound to be one of the best and biggest summer blockbusters of the year and it’s great to see an original idea getting a big budget and effects.
PACIFIC RIM is released 12th July 2013. It stars Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi and Charlie Day.
