Now for some news that has made me clap my hands in excitement – Benedict Cumberbatch (SHERLOCK, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS) looks set to join the already cast Emma Stone (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, THE HELP) and Charlie Hunnam (SONS OF ANARCHY, PACIFIC RIM) in the upcoming haunted house horror film CRIMSON PEAK, which is to be directed by the absolutely brilliant Guillermo Del Toro (HELLBOY, PAN’S LABYRINTH). Details about the film are sparse, but with the cast already this solid and Del Toro at the helm both as a director and writer I am getting really excited about this project.
Benedict Cumberbatch is having 2013 as a bit of a banner year, with films such as STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE, AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, Julian Assange biopic THE FIFTH ESTATE and a little film about a hobbit and a group of dwarves travelling to face a dragon all hitting cinema screens this year. It is difficult finding a harder working actor right now, and with a third season of BBC drama SHERLOCK set to begin shooting this year it will be very hard to avoid Cumberbatch for the foreseeable future (not that that’s a bad thing).
