Another Name Swoops Into The Frame For ‘The Crow’ Remake

Much has been made of the recent news that Tom Hiddleston is in line for the lead of Eric Draven in the Relativity Media’s reboot of 1994 cult smash THE CROW. The original film was based on the Dark Horse comic book and directed by Alex Proyas, spawning three woeful sequels and a terrible television series. However, it will ultimately be remembered as ground-breaking gothic classic that claimed the life of its lead, Brandon Lee, during an notoriously tragic on-set accident.

The linking of Hiddleston is way off the mark in the same respect as James McAvoy being courted a few weeks before. Both names were mentioned in a studio meeting on the project but that is as far as it went. There is one name that many in Tinseltown believe has more weight to and that is TRUE BLOOD’s Alexander Skarsgard. He was due to lead Warner Bros. TARZAN adaption (set directed by David Yates) before the project was put on the back-burner because of budgetary concerns.

Word is the role of resurrected revenge-seeking rocker Draven is Skarsgard’s if he wants it in the film being directed by F. Javier Gutierrez.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
