Out of all of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s big-budget action films, TOTAL RECALL is probably one of my favourites. When I heard that ‘Hollywood’ was about to remake it with Colin Farrell assuming the Ahnuld role, I was quite excited, as I though that there was still so much that could be have done with the original (which wass based on the Phillip K. Dick story ‘We Can Remember It For You Wholesale’).
Now producer Neil Moritz has been talking about the project for the first time, and it appears that we won’t be ‘getting our arses to Mars’ in the new one:
“It’s closer to the book, the big difference is we don’t go to space. Instead of it being a spaceship that takes us to another planet, there’s something that takes us from one side of the planet to another that’s really interesting.” Moritz said.
“It’s a real world, a real future world, where the cities have just gotten so overcrowded that the cities are just built up, up, up, up. We’re playing it like a real world, but there are all these technological advancements” the producer added.
The film kicks off shooting with Len Wiseman at the helm in May.
