I have not idea what a ‘Kon-Tiki’ is, but I do know that it is a name of a film directed by Oscar-nominated Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, and those two celebrated filmmakers are set to helm the fifth installment in the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise, all according to Entertainment Weekly.
The site for the mag reports that the two are in final negotiations to join the project which starts shooting in January for a July 2015 release. Johnny Depp is all set to return to the role of Captain Jack Sparrow for the flick, but no other cast members are as yet announced. Jeff Nathanson (CATCH ME IF YOU CAN) will write the script. The film will be produced byJerry Bruckheimer and released through Walt Disney.
KON TIKI is of course, the Oscar nominated fare that revolves around explorer Thor Heyerdahl’s 101-day expedition across the Pacific Ocean on a wooden raft. The film is playing in US cinemas, and will be released in the UK later this year.

Kon-Tiki was an early name of Inca sun god Viracocha. Heyerdahl gave this name to his raft for obvious reasons if you know the story.
