Coming from TRAINSPOTTING author Irvine Welsh, there is no doubt an adaptation of his novel FILTH was always going to shock. The film is being brought to the big-screen via CASS writer/director Jon S. Baird, as we follow the self destructive exploits of bipolar, bigoted and junkie cop, Bruce Robertson, whose angry Scotsman thinks the best way to win back his wife and family is to manipulate, snort and shag his way through the festive season.
The superb James McAvoy headlines as Robertson, alongside a superb British ensemble which includes Shirley Henderson, Imogen Poots, Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Marsan, Martin Compston, Joanne Froggett, Pollyanna McIntosh and David Soul! FILTH is expected in UK cinemas from 27th September, while a US date is still being arranged.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
