Pierre Morel, director of TAKEN and the underrated FROM PARIS WITH LOVE, is racking up a really impressive cast for his next film, GUNMAN. Sean Penn & Javier Bardem is already on board and now it has been reported that Idris Elba (THE WIRE, THOR, PACIFIC RIM) is in talks to jump on board.
The film is based on a novel by Jean-Patrick Manchette and revolves around an international operative (Sean Penn) who is betrayed by the organization he works for, forcing him into a game of cat and mouse across Europe. Elba would feature as a shadowy operative known as Dupont. Written by Pete Travis, best known for directing last year’s DREDD, there is a hope that it could turn into a franchise depending on its success.
Pierre Morel is a deft hand in directing action films and with this amount of talent already signed up, this could turn out to be something really exciting. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
