The Weinstein Company are pushing for their Oscar Nom already this year as they reveal a new poster for the latest project MANDELA: LONG WALK TO FREEDOM. We will see LUTHER and THE WIRE’s Idris Elba playing the title role, and there is a lot of hype behind it already.
Based on the autobiography of the same name, LONG WALK TO FREEDOM follows Nelson Mandela from childhood up to his election of President of South Africa. SKYFALL’s Naomie Harris will play his wife Winnie. Other cast members include Tony Kgoroge, Riaad Moosa, Zolani Mkiva, Jamie Bartlett, Lindiwe Matshikiza, Deon Lotz and Terry Pheto.
LONG WALK TO FREEDOM will have a limited run in the US in November, making it eligable for award season when the time comes around. Can you hear those red carpet bulbs flashing already? Check out the very direct, and quite awesome, poster below!
