James Franco is the latest filmmaker to reach out to his adoring public in the hopes of making a new project happen without spending his own money. Franco, who has his hand in a lot of pies thanks to acting, producing, directing, writing and teaching wannabe film makers, has announced he plans to make three films about the life of teenagers in his home town of Palo Alto, California. The films will be based on a book of short stories he published in 2010, imaginately titled ‘Palo Alto’. Talking about the need for the injection of cash Franco says
“Because of who I am, people often believe that it is easy to find investors and distributors for my films. Unfortunately, things aren’t that easy. More times than not, I have put in my own money to produce my films and my students’ films. However, this time it’s different; we need more funding. I will still fund part of it, but I need of your help; filming three feature films back-to-back requires more funding than I can give.”
