Russell Crowe Chooses ‘The Water Diviner’ As Directorial Debut

Russell Crowee Les Misérables PosterOver the last 12 months Russell Crowe has starred in a kung-fu film, a musical, and a superhero blockbuster. It’s obvious the man is craving something a little more from his career of late, so it’s hardly surprising the man has announced his directorial debut. Crowe has actually been searching for a while for a project that takes him back his Australian roots, but unfortunately it isn’t a big screen adaptation of NEIGHBOURS that we’re in for. Crowe will direct THE WATER DIVINER, which is a story set in 1919 about a father that travels to Turkey looking for his lost sons that went missing during the battle of Gallipoli. Scripted by Andrew Knight and Andrew Anastasios, Crowe will also star.

You can currently catch Crowe in MAN OF STEEL, and he will soon be seen in Akiva Goldsman’s directorial debut WINTER’S TALE as well as Darren Aronofsky’s NOAH.
