It’s Official! ‘Dumb & Dumber To’ Moving Forward

Many were disappointed at the news that original financiers Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema had decided not to move forward with a sequel to 1994 comedy smash hit DUMB & DUMBER. However, we’ve now learned Universal and Red Granite Pictures have swooped in to save the project and will unite to bring fans more from the brainless double-act of Harry and Lloyd.

The Farrelly Brothers, along with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, have been trying to get DUMB & DUMBER TO off the ground for almost two years without success. Both the filmmakers and the actors were happy with the script but the 20-year gap between the first film and a follow-up did not sit well with Warners. This led to Carrey’s exit, who was then followed by Daniels. Both cited a lack of passion from the studio for the project.

Well, Bobby and Peter Farelly took to Twitter to announce:

It’s expected they’ll all accommodate and work around Daniels and Carrey’s busy schedules in an effort to shoot later this year for a release sometime in 2014.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
