Maggie Gyllenhaal Set To Star In ‘The Honourable Woman’

Maggie GyllenhaalOscar nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal will be swapping the big screen for the little one soon, as it was revealed that the WHITE HOUSE DOWN actress will be starring in the new BBC2 and Sundance Channel series THE HONOURABLE WOMAN.

Described as a fast paced, labyrinthine thriller, THE HONOURABLE WOMAN follows the daughter of a Zionist arms procurer as she inherits her father’s company. We will see Nessa Stein as she tries to right the wrongs of her past, and how she is forced to face not only the true nature of her business empire but ultimately, of herself.

Hugo Blick will take on both writing and directing duty for the project. It is not the first time he has worked with the BBC, working on such series as MARION & GEOFF, OPERATION GOOD GUYS and most recently THE SHADOW LINE.

Gyllenhaal spoke about her excited for the project:

“I couldn’t put the scripts down. Nessa is such an exciting and intricate character. I can’t wait to begin filming.”

She won’t have to wait long, THE HONOURABLE WOMAN will set filming in the UK, the Middle East and America on location mid July, and the series is set to air in 2014.

TV and Theatre Nerd who will always try and give you a good opinion, unless it is something to do with Bloc Party, then it will be completely biased. Favourite films include: HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH, ALMOST FAMOUS AND MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO.
