Mary Elizabeth Winstead Joins Two New Projects

Continuing in her pursuit of the hottest indie roles around, Mary Elizabeth Winstead has announced two new projects today. First up is a project by her writer/director husband Riley Stearns in his directorial debut on the big screen.  The movie, FAULTS, centers around a young cult member (Winstead) who tries to reintegrate back into society but finds society might be more damaging than the cult she left behind. Filming is due to start later in the year but little else about the film or cast is known.

Also lined up for the actress is the directorial debut from Chris Messina which is still currently untitled. Messina has starred in numerous TV shows (The Mindy Project, The Newsroom) and takes on his role behind the camera with first-time writers Jessica Strong and Katie Nehry.  The film will focus on a workaholic lawyer who has to change her priorities when her husband abandons her and her 12 year-old son.

Most recently seen as Bruce Willis’ daughter in A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD, Winstead has been taking the indie route since she gained acclaim for 2012’s SMASHED, where she played the alcoholic wife who decides to get sober opposite Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul.  Also under her belt are Sundance hits A.C.O.D and the upcoming THE SPECTACULAR NOW. Winstead, who first played the oldest McClane offspring in DIE HARD 4.0, broke out in 2010’s SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD, where the played the lead role of  Ramona Flowers opposite  Michael Cera.
