Well that’s all the big nominations out the way.  On the most put there isn’t really any surprises except the inclusion of Javier Bardem for BITUIFUL, which is the first time that a completely foreign language film has been nominated for a Best Lead Actor award and also the amount of nominations that WINTER’S BONE received which is great news, especially for best supporting actor John Hawkes as he has been our generations version of Harry Dean Stanton for years and not really getting the recognition he deserved.  Also the is a nice surprise with Jacki Weaver’s nomination for ANIMAL KINGDOM and it’s great to see Melissa Leo again nominated as she has been deserving as Hell to win an Oscar for years.

We’ll have to wait till Feb 27th but let us know what you think, is it a good list or do you think the Academy missed anything out?

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
