Creator James O’Barr Joins ‘The Crow’ Remake As It Heads To Comic Con

The-Crow-3-1

Relativity Media have confirmed the main cast and crew of their soon-to-shoot remake of Alex Proyas’ 1994s cult gothic revenge thriller THE CROW will be in attendance at Comic Con in a matter of weeks. Perhaps more surprising is that director F. Javier Gutiérrez has confirmed he’s going to take the stage with original comic-book author and creator James O’Barr, who has boarded the reboot as a creative consultant.

Shooting is set to begin early in 2014 with a script by Cliff Dorfman. FAST & FURIOUS 6 and THE RAVEN actor Luke Evans is confirmed as the vengeance-seeking rocker Eric Draven, previously portrayed by the late Brandon Lee and who tragically died in an on-set accident during filming in 1993.

Barr added:

It is important for Crow fans to understand that Relativity, Javier, Luke and the entire team are working on a new adaptation of the book itself. I believe that this movie will stand alongside Brandon and his film as a valid work of art, and I look forward to collaborating on the project.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

Why mess with perfection? Haven’t we learned from disastrous remakes like Total Recall & Fright Night?!
