Last summer he gave us the Olympic Opening Ceremony and Danny Boyle is back in 2013 with more summer entertainment, this time in the form of 10 day arts and film festival Shuffle. From Thursday 8th – Sunday 18th August you can head over to Mile End, Boyle’s former residence, and catch classic films, Q&A sessions and live music.
The festival is being set in St Clements Hospital – a former Victorian mental health hospital which closed in 2005. The venue will play host to some of Boyle’s own films including SHALLOW GRAVE, TRAINSPOTTING, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and TRANCE. It’s not all Boyle’s work though – other films being screened include WITHNAIL & I, ATTACK THE BLOCK, THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY and ROSEMARY’S BABY. The former mental hospital setting sounds ideal for a creepy film watching atmosphere.
Aside from the festival, Boyle has announced he will be working on the TRAINSPOTTING sequel PORNO and will be aiming for a 2016 release for that highly anticipated project.
You can see the full festival line up and screening dates as well as book tickets here
