I’d been saving up the last series of Game of Thrones for quite some time, preferring to watch it all in one go as opposed to enduring the endless wait week in week out. I finally sat down and watched the entirety of series three on the game of thrones official site and yes it did take me a while. Nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed it and whilst on the subject, I thought I’d reveal a few of my favourite moments.
First up ‘they might be giants’ that truly special moment when we as the viewers were able to experience a giant of 9-feet walk across our television screens. This towering creature was witnessed when Jon Snow first arrived at Mance Rayder’s camp.
Next ‘the dragon cooks its own meal’ if you’re a fan of Game of Thrones, you’re probably a fan of dragons too. Watching a dragon catch a fish, cook it with a breath of fire and then devour it was quite exciting I must say.
More often than not, the show will take a slightly odd turn, that’s part of the cause in watching it. One particular memory of this so-called weirdness was when a creepy scorpion-type creature stepped out of a ball with the sole mission of assassinating Daenerys.
The interrogation of Sansa Stark was another favourite moment – and arguably one of the most hilarious performances of the season. She’s certainly a force to be reckoned with and we all knew this from the start, she did after all try and persuade Sansa to tell the truth about Joffrey.
I personally think the show should use the direwolves more than they do already. These creatures are amazing and when they do appear, they look astounding on screen. One of the best moments had to be when both Jojen Reed and the direwolf were able to communicate with one another.
Catelyn’s story about Jon Snow was another great scene, and one that came about earlier in the season. Michelle Fairley’s acting skills are immense as she tells Talisa a haunting story of her death wishes on Jon Snow.
When Arya first encountered the Brotherhood without Banners, I was on the edge of my seat. The archer Anguy aimed an arrow in the sky, which then landed at Hot Pies feet.
The swordfight on the bridge is a favourite moment of many I’m sure. Throughout the season, the relationship between Brienne and Jaime grew in a big way. The swordfight could only be described as a visual masterpiece and probably one of the best actions of the series.
During the show, poking fun at Edmure Tilly has become somewhat of an on-going joke. His repeated fails at aiming to set the funeral pyre on fire at his own father’s funeral were where it all began and I’ve been hooked ever since.
A sweet, rare moment was when Arya’s friend (who is a little on the larger side) finally found his true calling in life as a baker. As a farewell gift, he presented Arya with bread in the shape of a wolf.
Although Game of Thrones isn’t renowned for its physical comedy, there are a few awkward moments. One such moment took place at the council, in which Tyrion showed up late dragging a tiny chair across some length of a room.
Podrick, Tyrion’s squire, is a real ladies man – or at least that’s what we all presumed when he spent an evening with three prostitutes and they later refused to accept his money!
I could go on as the magic moments in this fantasy-drama are endless, but perhaps it’s time I left you discover your favourite moments yourself.
