No more Bourne for Matt Damon

Matt Damon won’t be making another Bourne movie.

The actor – who has played Jason Bourne in three films in the action franchise – is refusing to make the fourth instalment in the saga because he’s just “not excited” enough about it at the moment, and won’t go ahead without director Paul Greengrass on board.

He told Empire magazine: “I’m certainly not going to do it without him. Paul said he won’t do it now… but if we could crack it, find out where the character could go, we’d do it right away. But it has to be something we’d be excited about. I think that would be the danger of doing ten. I think doing four is acceptable.”

Director Greengrass – who is reportedly at breaking point with Universal after he was snubbed from directing the fourth film – doesn’t want to be involved because he doesn’t believe there’s anywhere else he could take Matt Damon’s character.

He said: “Obviously there was a great lure to come back because I love those movies. But you know, you need real fire in your belly to make a movie. You’ve got to have that absolute conviction that you know what you’re doing, and you’re going to try and achieve it. I didn’t want to just turn up.”
