It’s the last we’re seeing of those eyes… for now.
With the latest batman film The Dark Knight Rises most likely the last for Hollywood bad-boy Christian Bale, the actor is apparently on the hunt for more material to keep him busy. There’s also, tellingly, no sign of a continuation to the piss poor Terminator:Salvation, which received poor reviews and a below expected return at the domestic and foreign Box Office.
With that in mind then, there’s been strong rumours circulating around the internet google machine that Mr Bale may be about to sign for the lead role in the movie adaptation of Stephen Kings’ The Dark Tower. The film is planned as the first in a massive film series which will also later branch out into a television show. So, it’s a multi-media acting fest bonanza project of sorts.
Bale is currently the supposed favourite, according to The New York Post, to take the role. He would be playing Roland Dechain in the movies although his competition is pretty stiff. Viggo Mortensen and Javier Bardem are also being wooed for the part by the producers.
The director, Ron Howard, is still being somewhat vague about his commitment to the project, although insiders suggest that he will officially sign up shortly. Further casting rumours include Jennifer Carpenter, Naomie Harris and Ghita Tazi in their speculations.
The Dark Tower isn’t officially due until May 17th 2013.

Why would you suggest a white actress and a half looking white actress for a character that was clearly described as a dark-skinned african american in the book. Hollywood gets on my last nerve always white washing roles that clearly so many ethnic groups could play. It’s bad enough that there aren’t that many descent roles for people of color to play in movies, and then you go and cast white people in those few descent roles. Ignorance, Prejudice, and Racism plain and simple. People of color need to start boycotting these movies.
