Production on the next chapter of Michael Bay’s exploding robots franchise, TRANSFORMERS 4, is underway with Mark Wahlberg having taken over from Shia Labeouf as the lead in what can only be described as a massive step up. A varied supporting cast of actors such as Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, TJ Miller, and Nicola Peltz, just to name a few, have already been announced as potential cannon fodder for the Decepticons. Now it has been announced that character actor Titus Welliver has joined that list in another unspecified role.
Welliver is probably best known for having popped up in all three of Ben Affleck’s directorial efforts, GONE BABY GONE, THE TOWN & ARGO, as well as recurring TV stints on shows such as LOST, SONS OF ANARCHY & DEADWOOD. Despite being one of those people that you tend to forget the name of, I personally really like him and hope that his role is more of just a general standing in the background yelling a few lines from time to time. It sounds like Michael Bay is upping the ante in regards to acting talent, hopefully the story can bring us back towards the feel of the original TRANSFORMERS before it all spiralled into an incomprehensible mess.
TRANSFORMERS 4 is directed by Michael Bay. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, TJ Miller, Jack Reynor, Bingbing Li, Titus Welliver, Sophia Myles & Peter Cullen. It is scheduled to arrive in UK & US cinemas on 27th June, 2014.
