Just when you thought that the movie industry was running out of ideas, NBC announced a handful of projects that are currently in early stages of development…and none of them seem to be an original idea! The network announced that HILLARY, ROSEMARY’S BABY, TOMMYKNOCKERS and PLYMOUTH will be heading to the channel sometime soon.
HILLARY will be a four part mini series about former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. It will star Diane Lane, and it will be written and directed by FROZEN RIVER’s Courtney Hunt. The mini series will follow Clinton’s life from 1998 to present day, following her as First Lady, mother, and eventually becoming a Presidential candidate. This is the second biopic about Clinton, the other being RODHAM (which Carey Mulligan declined back in June).
ROSEMARY’S BABY is exactly what you think it is. It will be an “updated retelling” of the best selling novel by Ira Levin. In the new version, it will follow a young couple living in Paris dealing with married life and their satanic cult neighbours. QUEEN OF THE DAMNED’s Scott Abbott will take on writing duties.
Another book reboot from NBC comes in the form of STEPHEN KING’S TOMMYKNOCKERS. Based on the author’s 1987 novel, it follows residents of a small American town trying to deal with a supposed alien spacecraft landing nearby. BURY MY HEART AT WOUNDED KNEE director Yves Simoneau is attached to direct.
Lastly is a one off series called PLYMOUTH. It follows a group of pilgrims’ journey across the Atlantic, and follows them as they try and deal with settling into a new country. LAW & ORDER and NYPD BLUE writer Walon Green is attached to pen the script.
So there you have it…wonder how many of them will last!
