Last week, THN got the first glimpse of some intense footage from the monkey madness sequel, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. The sequel to Rupert Wyatt’s surprise hit 2011 prequel to the 1967 classic, sees chief chimp Ceaser older and wiser as the leader of the growing nation of genetically evolved apes, and is this time directed my CLOVERFIELD’s Matt Reeves. These increasingly clever primates find themselves threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. Their fragile peace proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
The viral marketing has begun with this interesting OPHA Public Service Announcement, which suggests getting treatment for the Simian Flu, in which only 1 in 10 are said to survive.
DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is set for cinemas 18th July and stars Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Judy Greer, Toby Kebbell. Kodi Smit-McPhee and Andy Serkis. We’ve also added the Comic Con panel, which consisted of Reeves, Russell, Clarke and Serkis, giving us an update on where this story takes place the mythology of the franchise.
