The folks over at Total Film are reporting that casting is underway on Guillermo del Toro’s big directing gig THE HOBBIT, ready for that Spring shoot. The casting folks are currently looking at extras for all of the minor roles, and working their way up to the main roles, so no big names to report yet.
…zero big names are confirmed as yet. (Sorry.) Instead, the producers are starting small – hobbit-sized, in fact – as they work from the bottom up to gather the hundreds of extras that will be needed to populate Middle Earth once more.

I hope that they cast Bruce Payne as one of the villains in this film- perhaps Thranduil, the voice of Smaug or as one of the Trolls (his cockney accent would be perfect).
