Despite there being a serious lack of, well, a script, this hasn’t stopped speculation over who will play Batman in the next Superman installment. But, today The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit has listed six names that have been mentioned behind the scenes to possibly play the caped crusader.
One Kit’s favourites is Josh Brolin, who is starring in the much-anticipated SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, which will be released next year. He was also unforgettably, and somewhat embarrassingly, in Warner Brothers’ unsuccessful western JONAH HEX, which also starred Michael Fassbender, another actor whose name has also been floating.
Now, rumour has it that Batman will be played by an older actor, which doesn’t fit well with Kit’s next choice- Ryan Gosling. The 32-year-old has definitely grabbed viewers’ attention over the past few years, starring in DRIVE and GANGSTER SQUAD. However, Gosling’s name tends to get mentioned when speculating about upcoming big-budget films.
If Snyder plumps for a comparatively unknown actor, Kit has also listed:
Joe Manganiello – The 36-year-old of TRUE BLOOD, who was also being considered for the role of Superman at one point, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Richard Armitage – The 41-year-old British actor who plays Thorin the dwarf in Peter Jackson’s THE HOBBIT.
Matthew Goode – The 35-year-old who worked with Snyder before in WATCHMEN.
Max Martini – The 43-year-old star who has appeared in REVENGE and CASTLE, and can be seen on the big screen in del Toro’s PACIFIC RIM.
Filming is slated to start next year, with the aim of a 2015 release date. These are just a few of the many names floating around to play the caped crusader. Do you think any of these six would make a good Batman? If not, who would? Let us know!
